Offices

The owners of One Memorial Drive specifically selected our firm to design offices for their most prestigious tenants, including Congress Group Properties, McKinsey and Co. Consulting and EF Foundation. The design for EF headquarters comprises two 17,000 SF floors of new offices, linked by striking glass staircases to facilitate interaction. Fully glazed office walls bring in light and allow fantastic views of the Boston skyline. The new interiors reflect the company’s efficiency and open style of communication.
A foreign bank wanted an office design that could accommodate the substantial amount of electronic equipment needed for its trading and foreign exchange functions. We delivered on that requirement, but also kept in mind aesthetic values. Translucent panels in the walls filter light into central spaces. Using materials such as glass, concrete and metal, we created a contemporary and visually exciting space for the bank and its employees; one that conveys the company’s image of technological innovation. When the FDIC needed a new corporate headquarters that would support both individual and collaborative work, it came to GRA for the design. The result? A 60,000 SF 4-story building with private offices and collaborative spaces. A number of areas were designed to be conducive to team work, including the cafeteria, a state of the art long-distance training room, law library, video conferencing center and other conference spaces. Clear circulation and work station clusters create an efficient office environment.
The One International Place towers are among New England’s most iconic buildings.
Oechsle International Advisors, a leading investment firm located their offices on the twenty second and twenty third floors. Each floor has approximately 15,000 SF of space. The work involved renovating areas of the existing space and adding new first class office space that would convey the firm’s professional image. Most of the offices were arranged to allow for fantastic views of the Boston skyline.
Biogen, Inc., a major biotech company, has a number of buildings in the Technology Square area of Cambridge. The company needed to improve existing space efficiencies and accommodate additional staff. We consolidated existing work space and designed new research departments with offices, video conference rooms, and computer rooms. An efficient layout consolidated several departments and functions. GRA also designed the renovations of offices, computer laboratories and interiors in three buildings.
The building layout features an open and interactive environment. Workstations are oriented for window views and natural light filters through glazed walls in the private offices. The central atrium hosts meetings and events and fosters interaction between the employees. The final touch: colors and finishes that create a pleasant office environment while helping people work collaboratively. GRA converted this masonry, former school building into offices for Tufts University to unite departments into one centralized setting. The Tufts administration was undecided on whether to renovate or build anew. GRA’s solution was to keep the historic exterior and insert an entirely new three story interior. Our architects solved the challenges of a square building plan by providing a large multi-storey atrium space. The new facility is designed to bring natural light into each floor to enhance the working environment When Brandeis University asked GRA to renovate the Presidents Office area, we made sure the new look created a welcoming positive impression. The renovation reorganized the offices and support staff area into a more organized and professional arrangement. The design provided new furnishings, workstations and lighting and updated electrical mechanical, data and life safety systems. This project was constructed in less than two weeks during the summer.
This lobby design was for a new mixed use high-rise office and residential building on Park Avenue in Manhattan. High end finishes and elegant lighting provide a luxurious setting. Lighting coves, modulated ceilings and grouped sitting areas brought down the scale to a more inviting appearance. Lisa Reindorf also designed a 7,000 SF apartment in the building. The apartment, which included media room, large living room, library, and dining room, occupied the complete floor of the building. The Boott Mills is one of New England’s historic 19th century textile mill complexes. The building owners called on GRA to renovate 200,000 SF of these buildings into office, commercial research, and educational space. Our firm utilized the existing building details while designing many offices and research laboratories as well as a law school. Our design of the Herman Miller showroom not only showcases that company’s furniture systems but also serves as a model space for prospective tenants.
The Wellesley Office Building, consisting of three interconnected buildings, is located in the town’s historic district. The building needed a new identity and an upgrade of interior finishes. Our firm’s design rejuvenated the building’s appearance, inside and out. A new lobby, lighting and office finishes updated the interior. For the exterior, we designed new signage and an ornamental cast iron canopy that harmonizes with the building’s historic character. The result - a welcoming entrance into a renewed building.
This historic administration building is a centerpiece of the UNH campus. But as the building aged, the interiors were in need of serious updating. A complete interior renovation provided expanded and modernized offices for the university president and administration staff. The design harmonizes with the historic building exterior and utilizes an interior ‘street’ concept, with glazed walls, to create a sequence of light-filled spaces.
